Summer Ready Feet

After a winter of being covered up in shoes and boots, now is the season to be getting your feet out in pretty sandals and heels! But for many, the fear of showing off their un-cared for winter feet can be daunting. To help you overcome any worries we have a few top tips to get your feet summer ready...

  • Exfoliate

First and foremost, treat your feet to a nice scrub to get rid of any dead skin and hard patches. This doesn't have to be expensive as you can buy affordable foot specific scrubs on the high street. A couple of our favourites are the Peppermint Soothing Pumice Foot Scrub from The Body Shop and the Sanctuary Luxury Foot Polish from Boots. Or you could even make your own scrub at home! Pinterest is our favourite place for finding homemade scrub recipes.

  • Moisturise

If you have dry skin on your feet or cracked heels then you need some heavy duty moisturiser! A great one is the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Nourishing Foot Cream For Dry Or Damaged Feet. And for an extra boost you could even smother your feet in thick foot cream, put moisturising socks on and sleep in them. These special socks are designed to make sure your feet take in as much moisture as possible. Perfect for really dry feet!

  • Massage

For all those aches and pains after a long day, pamper your feet with a nice massage. Just grab some moisturising cream and soothe all the tension and stress away.

  • Pedicure Time

Before you bare those toes in summery sandals, a gorgeous pedicure is in order! Whether you do it in the comfort of your own home, or treat yourself to one at a spa, a pedicure is a must for perfect summer feet. Trim your nails, push those cuticles back and pop on a bit of polish! To really achieve a flawless at home pedicure make sure to use toe separators, a base coat and trim nails straight across to avoid ingrown toenails.

  • Let Them Breathe

Finally, it's important to allow your feet to breathe throughout the summer months, in more ways than one! Firstly to avoid yellowing nails make sure you spend a few days once a month without nail polish on your toes. This allows the nails some time to recover and helps to prevent discolouration. Also it's important to let your feet breathe in general. In the summer months feet can get hot and sweaty, and no one wants stinky feet! So try to wear open shoes and give your feet some fresh air. Also if your feet do get a bit sweaty try a touch of talc once or twice a day to wick away the moisture.

Now your tootsies are primped and preened why not show them off in a new pair of sandals.
