Europe's top 25 beaches named by Tripadvisor members

If you're unsure where to go for your beach holiday this summer, Tripadvisor, the popular holiday reviews and advice website, have revealed the 25 best beach destinations in Europe based on the highest rating reviews of their millions of members. There's something to suit all walks of life on the list, from dusk 'til dawn party animals to those seeking peace, quiet and relaxation off the beaten track. Cyprus came out really well, taking two top ten spots, with the lively resort of  Ayia Napa at number one and the more family-friendly Protaras at number three. Two of the top ten destinations are in Greece; Skiathos, the small island with sixty beaches at number two and the super-stylish resort of Mykonos at number four. Mallorca, Spain took two of the top ten places, with family favourite Alcudia at number seven and historic Calvia at number nine. Like Spain and Greece, Italy has two beach destinations in the top ten; Pretty and uncommercialised San Vito lo Capo in Sicily at number eight and the relaxing-by-day, wild-by-night Villasimius in Sardinia at number ten. Oludeniz, a simply stunning, tranquil spot in Turkey was fifth on the list and surfy St. Ives in Cornwall, UK (pictured) came sixth : 1. Ayia Napa, Cyprus 2. Skiathos, Greece 3. Protaras, Cyprus 4.
